The English Garden Raleigh Florist

Today’s blog is a special spotlight on The English Garden Raleigh Florist! This beloved North Raleigh flower and gift shop is owned by husband-and-wife duo Cydney Davis-English and Warren English. Nikki Whitt Belch, founder and owner of Fancy This Photography, was honored to capture a branded photo shoot at their studio, which is just down the road from where she first got her start in the floral industry.

“I used to work with The English Garden while I was in college at North Carolina State University,” shares Nikki. “I went to school for horticulture. The English Garden was my first step into the wedding industry, so we go way back.”

Brand Photography by Nikki Whitt Belch

This brand photo shoot was a reunion and a creative collaboration. As a commercial photographer, Nikki specializes in helping businesses tell their stories through beautiful, customized imagery. Way better than stock imagery.

So, what is brand photography? It’s a curated gallery of professional images that visually represent your business or brand. Brand photos capture your products, services, people and style. These photos are designed to authentically reflect your brand personality cohesively across your website, social media and marketing materials.

The English Garden’s brand photo session included workspace images, behind-the-scenes moments and detailed product styling. On the day of the shoot, Nikki was supported by second shooter Venu Gopal. Together, Nikki and Venu’s images beautifully capture what makes this flower shop so special - three generations of floral expertise and artistry.

Having a shot list and timeline is essential when coordinating a branded photo shoot for a business with multiple offerings and team members. Nikki reviewed the necessary shots with owner Cydney to align on priorities before The English Garden Raleigh Florist photo shoot. Together, they paired backdrops with products and people to ensure the visuals reflect the brand.

We 100% recommend The English Garden Raleigh Florist. As third-generation florists, they’ve been among North Carolina’s most respected names in floral design for more than 40 years. From weddings and events to everyday occasions like Valentine’s Day or sympathy gifts, The English Garden team creates gorgeous arrangements with elite quality and exceptional customer care.

Special Arrangements for ALL - The English Garden Raleigh Florist

The English Garden Raleigh Florist has something for everyone and every celebration. Weddings and events are just one branch of this family-owned business. Their rotating “Bouquet of the Month” is a sweet surprise for the romantic in your life who loves fresh flowers. Or surprise someone with the “Cuppa Thanks” - a happy lil arrangement delivered in an adorable mug instead of an ordinary vase. The English Garden also has an entire catalog of unique and whimsical vases, ranging from glass and metal to clay. Some favorites include the “Out of This World” astronaut vase, the “Roll With It” roller skate vase and the “You Have Bewitched Me” vase inspired by Pride and Prejudice. I mean, c’mon.

These playful and heartfelt creations are exactly the kinds of details Nikki Whitt Belch of Fancy This Photography loves to highlight through brand photography. During their photo session, she captured The English Garden’s wide range of products with clarity, color and care. In addition to capturing what they sell, she captured the warmth and passion behind the family-owned business and brand.

Colorful Details Captured by Fancy This Photography

Whether it’s bold, colorful designs like “Tutti Frutti” and “Carolina Sunset,” or soft romantic favorites like “In the Meadow,” every photo tells a piece of the brand’s story. Modern arrangements such as “The Ladies Who Lunch” and “Make Your Garden Grow” feature nontraditional blooms. Monochrome designs like “Mellow to the Yellow” and “Desert Sky” are lovely too.

The English Garden Raleigh Florist also offers seasonal favorites like peonies in May and sunflowers in late summer. They even have pet-friendly options. The “Paws and Effect” design features flowers that are safe for both dogs and cats. In addition to cut flowers, they offer a variety of potted plants, including peace lilies, bromeliads, ivy, succulents, ferns and tropicals. Their Plant of the Month subscription is an amazing gift that keeps growing. Literally.

Every flower, gift and team member had their moment to shine in front of Nikki’s camera lens.

In addition to flowers, The English Garden Raleigh Florist has a unique and expansive catalog of vases, gifts and party rentals.

As a seasoned business owner herself, Nikki Whitt Belch understands how to create imagery that feels authentic, professional and aligned with your brand’s personality.

Weddings & Events by The English Garden Raleigh Florist

Whenever we find out that The English Garden is the florist for one of our couples’ weddings, we’re thrilled. We know Cydney and Warren’s team will deliver stunning arrangements. Their work elevates every wedding, and it’s cool to see how their designs transform a venue or space. It’s generally recommended that couples reach out to their florist at least six months in advance for weddings. The English Garden Raleigh Florist offers a wedding lookbook you can browse for inspiration, but it’s helpful to bring your own ideas. Whether you create a Pinterest board, bring magazine clippings or save screenshots on your phone, your florist will love creating your vision.

There are so many opportunities for gorgeous floral moments on your wedding day. Bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, bud vases, arches, table centerpieces, flower crowns, pet collars and more. The English Garden takes care of every detail for their wedding clients. Their proposals include delivery, setup and any on-site design services.

Nikki Whitt Belch, founder and owner of Fancy This Photography, especially loves capturing florals. This is no surprise, considering she studied horticulture at North Carolina State University and has experience designing florals! Her unique background gives her an appreciation for floral artistry, and it shows in her photos. Nikki photographs flowers with an educated eye, highlighting their natural beauty, color and shape. Her images showcase the expertise of The English Garden Raleigh Florist and capture their brand in a way that feels authentic.

Apex NC Therapy Bloom Psychology Branded Photo Shoot

Hey y’all! We’re excited to feature Dr. Marina Harris, sport psychologist, speaker, CEO, and performance consultant, on today’s blog.

Dr. Marina first worked with Fancy This Photography in 2019 when founder and owner Nikki Whitt Belch captured her wedding at The Mayton Inn in Cary, North Carolina. “Dr. Marina has become a friend.”

Dr. Marina is a licensed psychologist and CEO of Bloom Psychology Group, PLLC. The 90-minute branded photo shoot took place at Three Oaks Studio in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Nikki guided her through outfit choices and posing, capturing a mix of wide shots with open space for adding logos or messaging and cohesive stock imagery. These branded photos can be used across Dr. Marina’s website, workbooks and courses. The goal was to create visuals that aligned with Bloom Psychology’s brand aesthetic and color palette.

Professional Headshots by Fancy This Photography

Why do I need professional headshots?

Your headshot is a part of your personal brand. It’s like the first impression a client or customer gets. A great headshot reflects your personality, professionalism, and expertise. It also shows that you take your business (and yourself) seriously. With a branded photo shoot, clients of Fancy This Photography receive cohesive, high-quality images that can be used across all digital and print platforms. Consistent visuals and messaging are essential to building a strong brand identity.

How should I pose for headshots or a branded photo shoot?

For branded photo sessions, variety is important. Mix it up with standing and seated poses, action and stillness, relaxed and confident energy. Nikki, a professional photographer with decades of experience, expertly guides clients through each pose. During Dr. Marina’s Apex NC therapy branded photo session, Nikki helped her look both fierce and natural on camera.

Google suggests updating your headshots every one to two years, and we agree. Keeping your photos current helps maintain authenticity and keeps you aligned with your brand.

What should I wear for a branded photo shoot?

Dr. Marina’s outfits were cohesive and on-brand. Nikki offered helpful wardrobe suggestions, encouraging her to choose solid colors that complemented Bloom Psychology’s brand palette. Soft neutrals and green were spot on. Nikki also recommended bringing a blazer for a few bold, professional shots. “Honestly, she killed it. Ten out of ten,” says Nikki.

How often should I update my headshots?

Google suggests updating your headshots every one to two years, and we agree. Keeping your photos current helps maintain authenticity and keeps you aligned with your evolving brand. Don’t catfish your clients!

High-quality stock images are useful in graphic design and brand storytelling.

Stock Images: Branded Photo Shoot for Bloom Psychology

What are stock images and why do I need them?

Stock images are ready-made photos that businesses use to create consistent, professional visuals across websites, social media, and marketing materials. High-quality stock images are useful in graphic design and brand storytelling. No shade, but Fancy This Photography images look more polished and authentic than the free stock images you’ll find on Canva or stock sites.

This branded photo shoot with Dr. Marina offers examples of professional stock imagery. Check out the wide-shot image of the white couch featured above. A viewer can picture themselves receiving therapy in that calming space. Or the close-up shots of pens and books, which highlight Dr. Marina’s expertise and profession. Nikki was intentional in creating images that Dr. Marina could use across her website, workbooks and courses. You can tell that everything intentionally aligns with Bloom Psychology’s brand.

These branded photos by Fancy This Photography can be used across Dr. Marina’s website, workbooks and courses.

Branded Photo Shoot Props to Consider

Want to personalize your branded photo shoot? Props are a fun way to add personality and context to your photos. Here are some ideas to consider:

  • Books – Choose titles that reflect your business or area of expertise.

  • Pens – A symbol of professionalism and intelligence. Colorful or funky pens add personality and style.

  • Laptop – If you work virtually, your laptop is a must. Dr. Marina offers therapy services exclusively via telehealth, making care accessible throughout North Carolina.

  • Phone – An appropriate prop if you communicate with clients this way. Your phone case shows your personality, whether you like it or not!

  • Paper – like your business card, branded folders or stationery with your logo.

  • Merchandise – Rock your brand’s T-shirt, hat or other swag.

  • Coffee in your fave mug – Relatable and cozy. It adds a relaxed, human element that’s not overly “business.”

  • Your pet – If your pet hangs out at the office, include them! It’s cute and makes you look very approachable.

  • Plants – Always a good idea. They’re calming, pretty, and visually fresh.

Q&A With Nikki Whitt Belch, Founder and Owner of Fancy This Photography

Q: How did you approach photographing Nina Be’s yoga photo shoot?

A: I knew going into this that Nina Be would be a special soul to photograph. I went into this being open to her presence and her personal space. I had a few ideas of what I wanted to capture, but I did not know what kind of frequency I needed to be on until I met her. I wanted to match her energy.

Q: How long did the branding session take?

A: The session lasted about an hour to an hour and a half.

Q: Did you advise Nina on outfits and guide her through poses?

A: No, this was all her. We didn't plan the outfits at all. I wanted Nina to feel like her true self, and she had these outfits in the queue. I trusted her judgement.
